The Best Postman

I live in Southern Indiana and the postman I am writing about was my mail carrier many, many years
ago.
At this time I was married, living on the southeast side of Evansville, Indiana and gave birth to my daughter. As time went on the marriage hit the rocks and finally came to a point where it was over.
I had been staying home for several years and my daughter was then five years old. Luckily I had started working at a bank in the neighborhood on a part-time basis and went to full-time a month before the divorce was final.
The mail carrier in our neighborhood was Joe Montgomery and he was a very happy and pleasant man. I never ask Joe to do this, but he would bring my support checks to the bank instead of leaving them in my mail box. He was just the most thoughtful mail carrier I have ever known.
Even after retirement you could see Joe out walking his old route and chatting with the people. I've lost touch with Joe, but to me, he is The Best Postman.
