Snailmail Friends Across the Planet
by G.V.Vasudev
(Woodside, NY. USA)
I have contacted many Penfriends sites in the past decade.
Now "WHEN YOU WRITE TO SOMEONE WHY IS IT THAT YOU NEVER GET A REPLY?"
Is age an important factor to having a desire to write? Is anyone too old to communicate? Or we don't have any manners?
Sorry for being blunt. Thanks. Vasu
Wendy's Comment: First, everyone has full email boxes, so, as sad as it is, many emails are not replied to... and yes, that's bad. If you write to the site itself, the website owner is likely simply busy -- and only provides the means to find a pal, not answers on why they don't respond. Right? If you use snail mail resources on the web,... well, how old are the ads? Anyone can toss an ad out there, but not reply.. it's sad.
Second, it has nothing to do with age, but to others, it may. It depends on who you are writing to, and what they are looking for in a penfriend. The majority of my pals are adults (friendship onl)... but many sites are mostly "kids".
Third, if you try to contact a pen friend with an attitude (and yes, I understand why you are "blunt"), well, that answer is pretty obvious as to why they don't respond. Did you know that CAPS in your emails means you are YELLING? Grin!
Lastly, order an issue of my pen pal newspaper, Inky Trail News, and you'll find pals.. hopefully pals who DO respond!
Happy Writing!
