This website is all about letter writing, penpalling, pen friends -- folks who write letters.

When I first started corresponding, I thought I'd write to people worldwide to learn more about life out there. I didn't realize how close the friendships grow right here in the USA from penfriend to penfriend.

You can write to someone like you -- or find someone completely the opposite from you -- some work, some don't but many pen pals end up being lifetime friends from afar.

USA pals come in all varieties -- just like your neighbors and family. They are single and married, rich and poor, young and senior citizens, educated and not, working and unemployed; they are your sister, your neighbor, your co-worker and your friends. She might be a nurse on the midnight shift, a custodian at a school who loves to swap recipes, a stay at home mom who wants to share life with other moms, a senior who is lonely and seeking new friends, a Polish gal teaching an Italian to make pierogis, a teen looking for worldwide contacts to learn more about the world around her and, finally, a senior communicating via email to e-groups!

USA pals come in all ages, colors, shapes and sizes – looks don’t matter as we are communicating mind to mind – the visual distractions are gone. You might find a new stay at home mom, a 70-year old senior who describes life with babies in the 1920s, a liberated self-sufficient nurse who works full-time but needs a friend, a gal who wants to swap postcards, a gal in the big city writing to a country gal and learning about farming, or maybe someone who would like to correspond on a specific topic: lupus, clowns, gardening or books. We are all these folks, and a whole lot more!

Pen friends can have lots in common with you, or can be very different than you – that’s the beauty of writing letters – communicating and learning so much more about the world.
