My Special Pen Pal - Joy Thiery

Joy of Pen pal - Joy Thiery

Hey, it's my indulgence. I don't smoke, drink or buy lottery tickets. And I must admit I can't remember the last movie I went to...probably Harry Potter. I rememember when I was tiny (3 or 4) mom would drag me to the sci-fi movies. I'd sleep through most of them...I ought to've been in bed but mom had never baby-sitters. Once in awhile I'd open my eyes and a giant monster of some sort would be wreaking havoc. No wonder I'm scared of centipedes!!!

This is how my pen-pal shares past, present and future with me. I like wise respond in kind: Here in Hawai'i nei we celebrate many cultural holidays. For Chinese new year, China town hosts a tantalizing variety of munchy morsals for all to taste. While firecrackers burst and pop, one can put money for good luck into the mouth of the lion. I call it a dragon because the celestial calender did not have a lion only a tiger. Maybe it's a tiger? He-He-He.

Mind you we only write note cards or short 1 or 2 page letters. Yet each letter is opened with such anticipation that sometimes I rip the envelope up just to get at what's inside. Ahhhhhh! We share our happenings during the weeks, work, family, home, pets, weather, shopping... well you get the picture. I have even started collecting information to do pen pal ghost writing, which has allowed me to really look at who I am and where I want to put my energies. Mahalo nui loa, that's thank you VERY MUCH in Hawaiian.

Mahalo nui loa my pen-pal friend, Joy Thiery.
