Lost penpal: Mary Ann(e) Kellner from Greenfield, Wisconsin
by John Ward
(Manchester, England)
Back in 1967-68, I was 16 and at school in Yorkshire, England. Mary Ann Kellner and I were assigned to one another by Radio Luxembourg. At that time she was living on West Cold Spring Road in Greenfield, Wisconsin. We exchanged letters and also ephemera from the times and I especially recall her sending me news of the Monterey Pop Festival together with occasional Billboard charts. I can remember sending her a Carnaby St street sign in return. We both liked The Beatles, The Yardbirds, The Byrds and The Hollies. I just thought it would be great to catch up again after all this time given everything that has happened in the world since that magical summer of 1967.
