Looking out My Window: Roseburg, Oregon

Looking toward the northwest from our home
My husband & I live on a hill in Roseburg, Oregon.
Several years ago, I started a seed from a Mimosa tree in the neighborhood. I first put it in a planting pot until it got big enough to plant into the ground. It is a gorgeous tree over 12 feet tall, and as it grew, my husband shaped it like an umbrella. August is the month that it is in full bloom. The blooms look like small pink feathers, with light yellow centers.
We keep a hummingbird feeder on one of the branches. The hummingbirds congregate around the feathery blooms, as well as using their feeder.
About 5 years ago, when doing some remodeling on our old 85 yr old home, we hired a contractor to extend our front porch. The large southern pillars were moved to the edge of our enclosed porch. We find much peace and relaxation when sitting on our porch, in any kind of weather whether raining or sunny, or during the daytime or nighttime. We can watch the birds, deer and other wildlife animals come down from the woody area about a half mile up our street.
This is a wonderful area to read, during the daytime. One can watch the huge tall evergreen trees up and down the street blowing in the wind and just relax after a busy day, resting our minds. Our street is mostly quiet, with not a lot of traffic.
As the sun goes down behind the mountains, the sky turns many lovely colors. When the stars come out, the night sky is glorious. This is a place to clear our minds after a busy day of working or hurrying around taking care of business. We truly love the scene from our front porch and find great comfort in the enjoyment of our view.
