Letter Pen Friends

Letter friendships are wonderful -- often it seems we open up more with our pen friends than we do with family and friends nearby. We can learn more about the world around us, seeking out new cultures, friends with different occupations, similar hobbies and craft adventures, someone from the next block or a completely different state or country.

Don't sit at home watching your television, try finding a pen friend via email or snail mail) and educate yourself about life elsewhere. You might have a pal located where a world event happens -- and you can hear about it first hand.

Penpals are also a great way to work on your writing skills.. Tell your pal a story (something that just happened to you) and see how they react. Find a fellow writer and swap stories and critiques! Help kids learn to write better, a skill they really often don't care for, but with a pal, they WANT to write!
