Kids Pen Pals: Nervous about my first letter . . .

Dear wendy,

i am a teen at the age of 15. i want to send you a letter containing my parents approval and was wondering. . .when i get a list of other teens to write to, how should i start my letter? will they know that i will be writing to them or do i simply say "i found you through the internet" because something about that doesn't seem right...
confused, please help

Wendy: You can simply say you found them through Friendship-by-Mail and I hope they remember that they applied and are waiting for pals. Most do remember as they must send their info on to their parents so the parent emails me approval to use the pen pal info.

Then they wait and wait until someone writes to them -- that someone could be YOU!

Just write that letter -- introduce yourself, tell them a bit about you, ask them a few questions, always make it a conversation via the letter, not just all about you. It's fun!!
