Keep The Ink Flowing...
by Carol V. in Missouri
A teacher in 3rd grade introduced her classroom to pen paling. Since I was always dreaming of exotic places I would someday travel too when grown that peeked my fancy.
I can't remember my first pen pal but I can remember my Mom making me write my Grandfather because he would always send her letters back to her with words circled that she had misspelled. Well of course you might guess he did the same thing to me but being a child I wasn't as offended.
I think the first place I got pen pals from was The People To People organization. Then as an adult, I found magazines like Womens Comfort and Womens Household that were filled full of pen pal requests.
My love of pen paling still runs strong but only wish that I could find others who prefer to write on a regular basis by snail mail. I do enjoy e-mailing but loved to find a letter in my mailbox too.
Some complain about the cost of postage but I first think what price does one put on friendship plus who do we call that is long distance that is cheaper than a postage stamp.
All in all I will still write letters until I am no longer able to think straight or I do not find it as enjoyable. As a closing note. I hope you all don't circle my misspelled words. Ha!
Everyone have a wonderful day and keep the ink flowing.
