My penpal from Japan and I both send each other mixed CDs of our favorite songs (and even regular CDs). Even though American songs are played in Japan, she gets to hear them before they reach there!

She always sends me really cute cell phone charms, and in turn, I send her peppermints & Mr. Goodbars (they are her favorites). Let me warn you from experience, it's quite difficult to send any form of candy or sweets internationally.

Since I travel quite often, I will send her souvenirs from other states and even other countries.

It's really to cool visit somewhere in the world and get a photo of you standing there, holding a piece of paper (or cardboard) that has "Wish you were here, ____ !!" I've done this before in front of a monument and sent it to my penpal.
