I like both
typed and handwritten letters...

by Rosalind
(Spain)

I love both.

Yes - handwritten are more personal BUT -- I have arthritis or rather the starting of & sometimes it does hurt a lot when I am doing a lot of writing so hence I do type mine.

Secondly, I have found that when people get older I find it hard to read their handwriting so when I am replying I often find i am second guessing as to what I am replying too.

I wrote to a dear lady for many years who sadly had cataracts & her writing just went down hill, understandably. It got to the stage where I just couldn't read her letters. So our correspondence just filtered away.

I did tactfully point out that if i didn“t reply to a question that was why. I guess she figured why write to me if I couldn't read her letters. It was really sad.

So I say that both are perfectly acceptable.
