How my pen pals changed my life

I began writing to pen pals when I was 11 years old. I was born with a disabilty that left me in a wheelchair since I was a young child.
My Mother started my pen pal life by getting me my first pen pal. I still write him to this day. He lives in Germany.
I never felt left out after finding pen pals. While all of the other kids were riding there bikes, or skateboarding, I would happily sit in my room and write to my pen pals. My pen pals mean a lot to me because I can learn about the world, other cultures and most of all make new friends.
I have never felt sorry for myself and I enjoy being able to meet people in places I can't reach.
I enjoy writing to anyone in any country. I enjoy snail mail the most.
I keep binders of the letters I get. That way I can read them again. I also enjoy sending small gifts to my pen pals.
I would like to win because that would give me a chance to make more friends around the world.
