By Laura Martin I thought I would share some ideas for creative envelopes and stationery. Such as coordination!
Try to coordinate everything on your envelope around a theme!
For instance, I recently sent out a handmade envelope made from a calendar beach/return address labels. I also had a postage stamp (overseas ocean scene). I then used one of my beach themedreturn address labels. I also had a postage stamp (overseaspostage) that had a tropical beach scene on it. And I put some seashell stickers on the back of the envelope. I must say that this envelope looked pretty darn amazing if I must say so myself!
When you go to the counter to buy postage stamps, don’t just say “give me a book of stamps.” Ask to see all the stamps they have on hand. Creative stamps can add a real zing to your envelopes!
You’d be surprised at the variety of themes and topics that appear on stamps nowadays. Everything from teddy bears to movie stars to motorcycles have graced stamps in recent years.
As a Star Wars fan, I was filled with great glee when the Star Wars stamps came out last year! Years ago, I never would havethought I’d be putting a stamp on a letter featuring Hans Solo and Chewbacca. And, of course, I coordinated this with my homemade Star Wars stationery paper!
An additional postage stamp tip: I save the last 2 or 3 stamps from the sheet or book. This way I eventually end up with a selection of varied stamps. Then, when I want to try and coordinate a stamp with the rest of my envelope or my stationery,I may have just the right stamp on hand!
If you have a computer, it is quite easy to make your own address labels. Make yourself some labels using a variety of different graphics/designs to coordinate with your letters.
Keep a selection of stickers and/or rubber stamps on hand too.
Before you know it, you will have quite a selection of materials to create unique envelope creations that revolve around a theme!
Make it an extra special experience for your pen friend!
