About the "Write what you see here"

Dear Wendy,

Why is it that at the end of the submission ad that there is a word with lines going through it that we have to write. I know it's a random question but i'm just wondering.

Wendy: It's because of spammers. There are spambots that surf the net and add "junk" to pages.. like advertisements, or sexual junk, or anything I didn't want there. The robot does it so it could add thousands of comments in no time at all. This is the only way to assure a real person entered the page... yes, its a pain, but thats how our sad world is today!
